Add Stitching to Your Pages - Visitor's Scrapbooking Tip

by Anonymous

Scrapbooking Tip: You want your page to look color coordinated? Choose a selection of 2 or 3 colored borders for your pictures. Take embroidery thread or yarn, depending on your preference, the same colors as your borders, then stitch a border around the edges of your page. The stitch can be simple if you aren't comfortable with sewing or as complex as you wish if you are good with stitching.

Fion: Thanks for sharing this scrapbook tip! Stitching does add a decorative touch to any pages. DMC embroidery floss is popular among scrapbookers. They are cheap and come in a whole lot of pretty colors! They are thicker and could be easily spotted on a page rather than normal thin sewing thread.

If you are hand-stitching and want to achieve nice-looking stitches, you might want to try this:

1. Use a pencil to very lightly draw your lines on the more sturdy cardstock.

2. Dots the drawn lines with your pencil. Spacing the dots out evenly.

3. Using a needle, safety pin, or paper piercer to pierce holes through the drawn dots.

4. Erase away all the pencil markings.

5. Start stitching, using the pierced holes as your guide!
