Easy Steps to Make Your Own Chipboards for Scrapbooking

Chipboards for scrapbooking are so big during 2006. It's one of the biggest trends.

Chipboard is a cardboard-like material but thinner. Not all chipboards are acid-free so make sure to check its packaging label. Usually those created as scrapbooking embellishments are acid-free.

Chipboards
I have some pre-made chipboards I've bought at the scrapbooking store and you can take a look at what they are.

As you can see, pre-made chipboards make very interesting page accents and add dimension to your scrapbooking layouts. They can instantly brighten up a layout. The good thing is they are not too bulky. Just add adhesive to the back of the pre-made chipboard piece and stick it to your desired place on your layout. Easy to use.

But pre-made chipboards can cost quite a bit. Then scrapbooking companies started to produce plain chipboards. With plain chipboards, they cost lesser but you might be stumped as to what to do with them.

Plain chipboards are fantastic at letting you customize and create your very own unique chipboards, at a fraction of the price of pre-made ones. And you get to match it to your layout, so it'll fit perfectly every time.

Some ideas on embellishing your plain chipboards for scrapbooking:

  • Cover it up with patterned paper
  • Use rub-on to create text
  • Embellish with stickers, flowers and others
  • Paint it with acrylic paint

There's endless possibilities if you just spend some time exploring. Chipboards are very versatile scrapbooking embellishments.
