Scrapbooking Layout - Mother's Love

Scrapbooking Layout - Mother's Love

This scrapbook layout is the result of a Build A Layout Challenge from the Aussie Scrapbooking site. It features my daughter and her first baby, shortly after he was born.

I used quite a few techniques to create this page, including torn edges, faux stitching, hand colouring with blender pens and inks, water colour pencils over white craft ink for the stamped Title, plus embellishments- brads and buttons. All stamped images and card stock are from Stampin' Up!

I started by choosing a photo and mounting it on Caramel card stock. I placed a ruler against the edge of the photo and tore the excess card away to give a rough edge. A little Caramel was added to the top of the bold patterned paper.

The delicate flower paper was made with a Stampin' Around Wheel from Stampin' Up! I coloured the floral design using blender pens and inks.

I wrote the journalling on the computer and printed it onto card stock, cut it into strips and adhered it to the page. Some brads were added for detail.

The Title was made by stamping the letters with White Craft Ink onto Chocolate Chip Card, then using white, caramel and brown watercolour pencils to colour over the ink.

Everything was then arranged and balanced prior to adhering to black textured card from Stampin Up.

Stamping and Scrapbooking

Thanks Ann for such a lovely scrapbook layout! I love how you use black, white and caramel colors to complement the sepia photo. The look is very classic and timeless.

Your explanation on the different techniques used have been very helpful. At first I thought the delicate flower paper was a store-bought patterned paper till I read that you made it with a Stampin' Around Wheel from Stampin' Up! Very pretty and I think stamping works great for scrapbook pages.

Faux stitches and journaling strips are among my favorite techniques. :)

We'll like to see more of your pages, so feel free to share with us more of your scrapbook pages!
