Scrapbooking Microbeads
Scrapbooking microbeads can add shimmer and sparkle to your scrapbooking layouts. If you want a dimensional look that's glamorous and glimmering, consider experimenting with microbeads. Where can you apply microbeads on? On a large variety of things but talking about scrapbooking, there's stickers, die-cuts, laser-cut alphabets and intricate designs, punch art, picture frames and more. With microbeads, you can add dimension and texture without too much bulk. Microbeads come in various sizes and rainbow colors be it opaque or translucent. Personally, I have yet to use microbeads on my layouts but I've seen how microbeads work, and they can really add interest and elegance to a scrapbook page. So I thought of sharing this scrapbooking technique with you. And I believe it's easy enough for beginner scrapbookers to try out.
A Few Ideas to Using Microbeads
Imagine beaded flowers or a beaded title... glimmering and inviting.
Run your word/alphabet die-cuts through an adhesive disensper machine such as the Xryon machine. Then easily adhere microbeads to your word/alphabet die-cuts and create an attention-grabbing page title.
With clear microbeads, you can give your stickers a stained glass look.
With colored microbeads, you can jazz up your accents with an extra dose of glamor.
With large die-cuts or page accents, add different colored microbeads to certain portions of the accent to give it a stunning look.
Steps to Attaching Scrapbooking Microbeads to Your Accent
Step 1 - Coat your accent completely in adhesive. You can use double-sided tape, an adhesive sheet or run your accent through the Xyron machine. If you're applying beads to a small portion of your accent, use liquid glue to adhere. Step 2 - Find a shallow pan or tray to work with. This is to prevent the microbeads from spilling all over the place. Step 3 - Pour the microbeads all over the accent. Next flip over the accent faced down towards the pan and press it firmly onto the excess beads in the pan. This will help to cover the accent completely with beads. Step 4 - Flip over the accent and press firmly with your fingers or use a brayer to roll it over. To ensure the beads are totally embedded. If it's small accent and you want to cover it completely with microbeads, some scrapbookers simply dip the whole accent into the microbeads.
Scrapbooking microbeads can give you some pretty amazing options to play around with. After writing this article, I'm tempted to give microbeads a try sometime soon. And when I do, you'll see pictures of my layout right on this page. Have fun scrapbooking with microbeads! If you've tried it, let me know how you like it.
