Scrapbooking Store
Let's look at the pros and cons of both shopping in a physical scrapbooking store and shopping online for your scrapbooking supplies. You'll read some of my personal experiences with shopping for scrapbook supplies in both physical stores and also with online stores. So you'll get some ideas of what to expect if you've never been to a scrapbooking store before, and if you've yet to try out shopping online for your scrapbook supplies.
Shopping in Scrapbooking Stores
I can still vividly recall the first time I stepped into a local crafts store and came face to face with scrapbooking supplies...Layers and layers of gorgeous embellishments dazzled before my eyes. Excitement shot through the roof, and my heartbeat increased. I was thrilled to see delicious, fun and fabulous scrapbooking embellishments, papers, and possibilities floating before my eyes. From that moment, I knew I had to learn more about the art of scrapbooking. Since that day, I've been on several scrapbooking shopping trips to various scrapbooking stores to get my supplies. Stepping into a scrapbook store is like going into a candy store where your eyes feast on hundreds and thousands of choices and you simply went crazy. The good things about shopping in a physical store is that you can feel the texture of papers and embellishments, see how the real thing looks like, seek help from the scrapbook staff, hold one item against another to see how well they match each other, and spend hours indulging in the world of scrapbook supplies. That also means that you might overspend as you can't help grabbing another yard of ribbon, another ten pieces of cardstocks, another pack of refill of something... Certain times, you might even end up buying nothing at all because you were too overwhelmed by all the dizzying choices. That happened to me twice. One of the scrapbooking stores I usually bought from, expanded and recently moved into a much bigger space at another location. The new store looks much bigger, more posh and glam. Of course there's also more choices and there's even an in-house cafe too. The first two times I visited the new store, I came out empty-handed. Maybe that's because I wasn't prepared to buy things. Maybe the lighting is a little dim. Maybe it's too posh. Somehow I just didn't buy. The third time that I went in, I've intended to buy some cardstocks but I had difficulty searching for the papers. I went out with no cardstocks but just a few yards of ribbon. So shopping in a physical store has it many appeals and a few setbacks too. Of course, nothing beats seeing the real stuff in "flesh", if you know what I mean. If you're at a store, wanting to pick out some papers but are at a loss of what to get, here's a tip. Pick out a few patterned papers you want for your projects. Then approach the friendly staff to help you mix and match cardstocks and embellishments, based on your patterned paper selection. My friend did that and the staff came back with some attractive mix and match choices.
Shopping with Online Scrapbook Stores
Ever tried shopping at an online scrapbooking store? I did and it worked out very well for me. When is it a good time to shop online? There's no local scrapbook store in your area. You want to save on gas. You get to enjoy scrapping supplies at daily discounted rates. Your kids are a handful and you don't want to chase after them while trying to shop at a store. You're tied with 1001 things and you can't afford to be out shopping... Shopping at an online scrapbooking store also means you can cut out the "noise" and find out what you truly need instead of just buying in anxiety. Online shopping might lessen the confusion of seeing loads of stuff all at the same time and help you narrow down your choices. That's because in an online scrapbooking store, supplies are arranged in categories, allowing you to easily move from one category to the next. Then under each category of items, it's usually sorted by brands. This way, you can find what you're looking for in quicker time and with lesser hassle. For example, you simply click on the category of "Cardstocks" if that's what you're looking for. Then at the cardstocks section, you select from the brands such as Bazzill, Scenic Route Paper, and others. These steps cut down and limit the selection you're looking at and make you focus better. If you've been wanting to try out an online scrapbook store, I would recommend Scrapbook.com. It's an award-winning store with thousands of scrapbook supplies at low prices and there's often discounted scrapbook supplies. Besides that, what I like about this online scrapbooking store is that there's clear, concise product descriptions, and you'll also come across product reviews where other scrapbookers rave about their favorite products.
A Thrilling Shopping Experience
Scrapbooking can be a very expensive or a low cost hobby. ;-)It really got to do with your shopping habits. If you know you're the type who loves to splurge and you want to cut back, then it's time to make a scrapbook shopping list and go online shopping with that list and just make sure you stick to your list! Researching about good products certainly helps, and so does great product reviews by other scrapbookers. Scrapbooking can be a very rewarding, fun and creative process, so enjoy your online scrapbooking store experience as much as you can!
